Joelle Karam B.H.Sc., M.Sc.P.T., registered physical therapist

Joelle Karam recently graduated with a Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto. She also holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences Honours Degree from McMaster University. Clinical placements during her Master’s have broadened her knowledge and skills in the treatment of clients with a variety of orthopaedic, neurological and cardiovascular conditions.

Joelle’s passion lies in helping individuals regain function and pursue an active and healthy lifestyle. She believes that this can be achieved by working with each client towards their individual goals and combining education, manual therapy, active rehabilitation and therapeutic modalities to meet these goals.

Joelle plans to pursue many continuing education opportunities so she can offer her patients a variety of therapeutic techniques and to ensure her practice is up to date and evidence based. Upcoming opportunities include a certification in Acupuncture with the McMaster Contemporary Acupuncture Program this Winter/Spring 2010, and the Diploma of Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy. Her interests in sports, as a person who greatly enjoys participating in and volunteering at various sporting events, have also motivated her to pursue a Diploma in Sport Physiotherapy in the future.

Michelle Lee B.Sc.H, M.Sc.P.T., registered physical therapist

Michelle Lee recently graduated from the University of Toronto with a Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy. She also attended Queen’s University where she received a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree with a subject of specialization in Life Sciences. During her clinical internships with the University of Toronto she has worked with a variety of populations in numerous settings, which have broadened her scope of practice. These include pediatric neurological rehabilitation, cardiorespiratory physiotherapy, homecare, and orthopaedic private practice.

As a recent graduate, Michelle will provide a fresh approach to the practice of physiotherapy and new knowledge based on recent literature. She will continue to broaden her education through a variety of courses, including the Diploma in Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Therapy, and the McMaster Contemporary Acupuncture Program.

Michelle’s plan as a physiotherapist is to continue to refine her critical reasoning skills and manual therapy techniques in order to provide productive, evidenced-based therapy for her patients. She believes in combining a variety of techniques including manual therapy, exercise, therapeutic modalities and education, in order to help her patients regain an active and healthy lifestyle.
